Actress Mariah Bozeman Talks Netflix's 'The Woman in the Window' & More

Mariah Bozeman, known for her role in NBC's Chicago Med, is truly a shining star building a strong foundation for a bright future ahead. We had a chance to catch up with the multi-talented actress to talk about her start in entertainment, Netflix's The Woman in the Window, and a bit of advice for young creatives pursuing their dreams.

Tell us about your journey as an actress so far. What was it like seeing yourself onscreen for the first time?

My interest in acting began when I was about 2 years old. My cousin, Marcus Martin, who was studying film at the time, used to do little skits with me and would always say I was a natural actress. Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 25. It wasn’t until I was 8 years old that I went to my first open casting and auditioned for the role of a girl scout, which ironically, I happened to, be at the time. I got the part and instantly fell in love with acting all over again. I was fortunate to have a family friend who believed in me and introduced me to the agency that he was signed to. After my interview with the agency, I was signed to Stewart Talent the same day! I went on so many auditions (and still do). I have had the opportunity to act in commercials, television, a web-series and my first film, that will be released May 14, 2021 on Netflix.

Seeing myself on television for the first time was shocking. I remember just staring at the TV. I can be really critical of my work, so although I was really excited (really really excited), I was also thinking of what I could have done better.

Share as much as you can about the upcoming Netflix thriller The Woman in the Window and some details about your character.

Anna Fox, played by Amy Adams, is an agoraphobic child psychologist who finds herself keeping tabs on the picture-perfect family across the street through the windows of her New York City brownstone. Her life is turned upside down when she inadvertently witnesses a brutal crime.

My character, Olivia Fox, is the daughter of Anna Fox, played by Amy Adams and Anthony Mackie plays my father. My parents are estranged. I cannot share too much more, but I am excited for you all to see how the thriller unfolds.

What was your experience filming the award-winning web-series CHI-nanigans? How did it feel working with your peers in a show that focused on the world according to tweens?

I loved being a part of Chi-nanigans! It’s based on the book series Shenanigans, by the writer/director Jil Ross. My twin brother in the film, Sage Mayer (now played by Treycen Bownes) and I always had so much fun on set. Hannah Glenn played my best friend and we became really close. I hope we get to play best friends again in the future! I was glad to be able to represent a positive side of Chicago and show a fun reality for tweens.

What advice do you have for other young people pursuing their dreams?

I would say you have to work hard to be great at anything. Find out as much as you can about what you want to do. Read, read, read! Practice, practice, practice! And stay ready for the opportunities so you don't have to get ready.

The Woman in the Window streams May 14th on Netflix.
