Fans all over were ecstatic to hear that two of the 2000s' most notable ladies in R&B were going head-to-head for a Verzuz battle this past weekend. Ashanti vs. Keyshia Cole was set to take place on Saturday, December 12th and many were disappointed when it was canceled only hours before.

Around showtime, Ashanti shared a message on her IG saying that she tested positive for COVID-19. Despite her saying she was willing to still do it from home, social media became skeptical of her results; alluding that she wasn't really sick but rather scared to face off with Keyshia Cole.
As a result, the "Foolish" singer went live on IG shortly after to be as transparent as possible.
"I don't know who in their right mind would think somebody would try to fake covid, that's not necessarily something to play with or to joke around about; you know people are dying..." said Ashanti while she was live on IG.
She expressed how upset she was that she couldn't participate in the Verzuz that night and how determined she was to still make it happen virtually. Ashanti began to make arrangements to do it from home when it was decided by multiple people, including Keyshia, that it'd be better to just postpone it.
On top of the fact that technical difficulties would hinder the flow of the Verzuz if done from home, it was agreed that Ashanti's health should take precedence. Keyshia Cole even hopped on her live to reiterate that, along with her wanting to be able to love and embrace Ashanti during their Verzuz.
So, it is set that the two R&B queens will try this again on January 9th, 2021. While Ashanti said that she isn't in any pain, thankfully, we are still wishing her a speedy recovery as we patiently wait for their 2nd attempt in the new year.
In the meanwhile, Verzuz TV didn't leave us hanging! They just announced that the next Verzuz will be E40 vs. Too Short in what's called "Legends of the Bay." It's set to take place on December 19th, at 8PM EST.
