David and Tamela Mann Talk TV Debut of "Madea's Farewell Play"

Written by: Briana Wright @misswrighttv

David and Tamela Mann have been working with Tyler Perry as Madea for over 15 years, acting in his plays, shows, and films as Mr. Brown and Cora. Now, that time is finally coming to an end as Tyler Perry unveils “Madea’s Farewell Play,” his final stage run as Madea.

YV Media Correspondent Miss Wright, spoke to the Manns about their time working with Madea and the farewell play.

Despite the sad reality that we won’t be seeing Madea on stage any longer, David recounts feelings of gratitude during the farewell play as it had been over 10 years since they’ve been on stage together.

“Just us being back on stage and just really realizing, I miss this…”

You’d never know that it had been so long since they’ve been together on stage because the play has an overwhelming feeling of unity and comfort, much like family. So much so, Tamela says family is the one of the main aspects of the show.

“The importance of family and knowing that there is strength in family...but a whole lot of joy. A lot of laughter, it’s a roller coaster.”

Anyone who is familiar with any of Madea’s plays knows that Tamela’s statement is accurate. And for those who aren’t familiar with her plays, the Mann’s say there’s one ultimate reason you have to tune in to this one:

“MA to the D-E-A! You don’t know what she’s going to do!”

“You’re going to have fun. Laugh, cry, some great singing, great dancing... “

David even says, Mr.Brown is going to get sexy in the show! So, if that’s not enough to make you watch, I don’t know what is!

Tune in to the television debut of Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Farewell Play” on Tuesday, February 16th at 8PM EST/PT on BET.
