Keke Palmer has been winning since she was a kid and she hasn’t let up since.
After recently celebrating her 28th birthday, Palmer has had much more to celebrate as she’s just won an Emmy for her Facebook Watch show ‘Turnt Up With The Taylors’.
Following the ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ actress’ big win in the Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series she took to Instagram to express how shocked she was.
“Wow! I won! I am so shook. Saying thank you from the same platform that gave me the freedom to create when the traditional route made me feel there was no place for me,” Palmer wrote on her Instagram.
A new shiny trophy isn’t the only thing Palmer is celebrating either, she was also a host at the Met Gala on Monday in New York City and earlier this year was announced as a lead in Jordan Peele’s upcoming film ‘Nope,’ to be released in 2022.
Palmer has been in the entertainment industry since she was just 11 years old starring in numerous classics like ‘The Longshots,’ ‘Madeas Family Reunion’, ‘True Jackson VP’ and ‘Barbershop 2: Back in Business,’ and has shown no sign of letting up any time soon.
“After TJVP a lot of people didn’t see it for me, but I have always been what I am,” she continued. “I am a creator, so I have always created and God has done the rest. No matter what avenue, no matter how much money I have had and not had, my art was my escape and it has saved my life more times than you know. It doesn’t matter who is watching you! Never ever give up. Keep telling stories that matter to you. Keep being an artist, that’s all that matters. Though I appreciate this acknowledgement, I am still the same girl I have always ever been. No amount of outside validation can grant you the peace I feel from knowing God. Bless up!”
For years now Palmer has kept us laughing on the internet with hilarious content, and ‘Turnt Up With The Taylors’ is no different. The Facebook Watch series follows the Taylors, a family of 5, all played by Palmer, continuing with their ‘Taylor Time’ reality series after their daughter Chelsea ‘Barbie’ Taylor goes solo for her own breakout stardom.
“Here is proof that you can create with what you have on social and it’s enough,” Palmer stated. “‘Turnt Up With The Taylor’s’ was born on my INSTAGRAM, from a sketch character named Chelsea Barbie Taylor.”
