Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is a book I will never be able to stop talking about. Even though I picked it up in July as one of my Pride Month reads, Ari and Dante really live up to the book’s title and end up discovering so many things you’ll never see coming. Which is why, I couldn’t think of a better book to write about on International Friendship Day, than this one.

Although different nations observe this day on different days, the UN General Assembly proclaimed it to be celebrated on August 2, emphasizing the promotion of international understanding and respect for diversity. Sure, calling up a long-lost friend after years or just sending a corny text to that close friend you talk to everyday is something we all look forward to doing, but we should remember to not restrict this spirit to one day alone. More than unconditional love, the world needs an unconditional sense of kindness which forms the bedrock of friendship.

Ari and Dante's story is filled with friendship, love and kindness. Not just for each other, but those around them too. Written in a lyrical style, though it revolves around their youth in El Paso, it fills you up with hope and positivity. Ari's darkness and Dante's light come together like a rainbow, making you feel colors you never knew existed. Their story is wholesome and runs deeper than the sea. An emotional rollercoaster, be kind and fall in love with the universe with Ari and Dante, this friendship day.
