Okay, LISTEN up. If you’re looking for something to bake the search is over. They might not look like much, but these buttery and light maple walnut shortbreads are my aaaabsolute new favorite cookie and will definitely be making it to Christmas this year. Shortbreads have always been one of my favorites, but we all know there's nothing like homemade.
Ingredients:
C O O K I E:
☼ 2 sticks of butter, softened
☼ 1/2 c sugar
☼ 2 c flour
☼ 1/2 tsp salt
☼ 2 tbs maple syrup
☼ 1/2 c chopped walnuts
G L A Z E:
☼ 1 c powdered sugar
☼ 3 tbs maple syrup
☼ a splash of nut milk
How To:
Begin by beating together your softened butter, sugar, and maple syrup until light and fluffy. Slowly add in your flour and salt and mix until well combined. Fold in your chopped walnuts and roll the dough into the shape of a log. Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Once your dough is chilled, preheat your oven to 350° and begin your glaze by whisking together all three ingredients. Slice the dough to create your cookies bake for 11 minutes, or until golden. Once the cookies are cooled off, dip half into the glaze + sprinkle with leftover walnut crumbles.
