On Monday, October 24th, Mike Tyson responded to rapper Boosie Badazz's comments on Zaya Wade's decision to come out as a transgender.
The former heavyweight boxing champion demanded Boosie explain why he felt the need to comment on something that had nothing to do with him; Adding that Boosie, may in fact, like homosexuals himself.
"Why do you say things about people who might be a homosexual? Why do you say that about them? Tyson asked. "Do you feel there's a possibility that you're a homosexual and by disrespecting them it furthers yourself from being a homosexual? I'm thinking you may like homosexuals."
Dwyane Wade's 12-year-old daughter came out earlier this year as transgender and has said that she has known of her correct identity since the age of 3.
After coming out, Boosie took to social media and posted transphobic comments directed at the Wade family.
Boosie then explained “I really commented on the Dwyane Wade situation because I got offended because it's a child. That's really why I got offended," he explained to the champ.
After being questioned by Tyson, Boosie quickly admitted that sometimes he needs to keep his mouth shut.
During the interview, Tyson made sure to break down the correct meanings behind gender identity and sexual orientation; Making the conversation between Tyson and Boosie a lesson on why we should not speak on things we are not familiar with.
At the end of the session, Tyson made clear that we need to be kinder to ourselves and others as the first step away from our "ego-based" lives.
