Thai Steamed Mullet in Lemon Garlic

One of my favourite food is Thai Food ..Living in HKG I loved eating Thai as there were good eating joints in every nook and corner..

Today I made some Thai food as this is my husbands @xavrebs absolute favorite 😍

Here is the recipe for The steamed Mullet

Thai Steamed Mullet

1.5 cup hot water

1.5 tsp chicken/fish stock

3 tbsp. granulated sugar

15 garlic cloves

6 Thai chilies

1/2 cup coriander leaves (finely chopped)

6 limes juice

6 tbsp. fish sauce

1 Mullet/Sea Beam

3 lemongrass (cut 2 inches length)


In a bowl, add in hot water, chicken/Fish stock or Bullion and granulated sugar.

Mix until the sugar is dissolved and set aside until the mixture cools

Add in garlic, chilies, coriander leaves, lime juice and fish sauce. Mix everything together and set aside.

Prepare your steamer.

Use a parchment paper

This is to make it easier to handle the fish when it's cooked. Place the fish inside. Put the lemongrass inside its cavity. Cover the steamer. Steam for 15-20 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked.

When fully cooked, using the overhanging baking sheet, lift up the fish and discard any liquid. Place the fish in a serving plate. Pour the sauce on top of it and enjoy with a bowl of Rice and some papaya salad!
